Bulgaria is being showcased as a year-round tourist destination at the Romanian Tourism Fair, which started on November 10. Greece, Egypt, Japan, Israel, Palestine and others are also presenting their tourism products at nearly 140 stands.
The Bulgarian stand is located on an area of 100 square metres and occupies a central place in the exhibition. 12 participants, including the municipalities of Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Silistra and Bansko, are represented there.
"Romanian tourists make up the largest percentage of foreigners choosing to visit Bulgaria, but connectivity between the two countries remains a challenge," Ivaylo Marinov, head of the Trade and Economic Affairs Office at the Bulgarian Embassy, told BNT.
Over 822,000 Romanian tourists have visited Bulgaria from January to August this year, said caretaker Deputy Tourism Minister prof. Mariela Modeva.
"We are actively working to promote Bulgaria as a 4-season destination and the tourist product offered is well balanced in terms of price-quality ratio," she added.
A strong winter tourist season is expected due to the return of tourists who have refrained from travelling because of the Covid pandemic, it became clear during the forum. Romanian Minister of Entrepreneurship and Tourism Constantin-Daniel Cadariu was among the visitors at the Bulgarian stand.
The international tourism fair in Bucharest will run until November 13.
