The electoral campaign started at midnight. In connection with the organization of the upcoming elections, the Ministry of Interior will hold a national meeting with the directors of the security services.
20 parties and 11 coalitions will compete to win the voters' support for the 240 seats in the Bulgarian National Assembly and 17 in the European Parliament.
The law obliges the campaign to be conducted in Bulgarian language. According to the Electoral Code, the participants in the elections are required within 5 days of the opening of the election campaign, i.e. by 15 May, to submit to the Audit Office data about donors as well as declarations of income of the candidates for participation in the elections, which are scheduled to take place on 9 June.
By 18 May, the list of polling stations outside the country will be published on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, once the Central Election Commission has designated them.
