Thus Bulgaria is in sixth place in Europe in terms of number of detained suspects for jihadist terrorism. Meanwhile according to the Bulgarian State Agency for National Security, 29 were expelled from the country.
A total of 687 individuals were arrested in Europe for jihadist terrorism. Most arrests occurred in France (377), Spain (75) and Belgium (60).
17 jihadist attacks in Europe in 2015 caused the death of 150 people. 360 people were injured. More than 5,000 young Europeans are believed to have travelled to Syria and Iraq. One-third of them returned to Europe, i.e. they may be used for the so-called "lone actor" attacks, the report says.
