A total of 31 projects were approved to receive more than EUR 8 million under the second call for the INTERREG-IPA Bulgaria-Serbia cross-border programme 2014-2020, Bulgaria’s Ministry of Regional Development announced on May 16.
The funds are intended for initiatives to create sustainable tourism, youth support and environmental care.
Bulgaria’s Minister of Regional Development Petya Avramova and Serbia's Minister of European Integration Jadranka Joksimović today handed 20 of the contracts to the subsidy beneficiaries. In the next days, the rest are expected to be signed.
Some 235 projects applied under the second call of the programme, which has a budget of over EUR 12 million. 31 were approved. 14 projects will finance sustainable tourism projects worth 3.5 million EUR, 8 will support young people, 9 will be for risk management and environmental protection measures, 9 will be related to investments.
So far, 33 projects have been completed under the programme, and the remaining six of the first call will be completed by the end of the year.
The budget of the INTERREG-IPA Bulgaria - Serbia 2014-2020 programme is EUR 34.1 million.
