64 illegal migrants were detained during a joint operation of Bulgaria’s State Agency for National Security and Ministry of Interior in the early hours on 14th of October.
The migrants were moslty men, but there were several women and children as well. They were travelling in two minibuses – one passenger bus and one cargo van.
The vehicles were stopped by the Bulgarian authorities near the North Bulgarian city of Vratsa. Only some of the migrants had ID documents.
The migrants were taken to an emergency centre for medical examination and after that were transported to the refugee accomodation centre in the town of Elhovo.
The two drivers, Bulgarian nationals from Vidin, were arrested on allegations for human traficking. Pre-court proceedings were initiated against them.
