Over the past 24 hours, Bulgaria’s police detained 79 foreign nationals illegally residing in the capital city Sofia. Most of them were from Afghanistan.
The number of Afghan migrants on the territory of Sofia has increased in the past month, said the Head of Sofia Directorate of the Ministry of Interior, Mladen Marinov on 16th of October.
The spots where most frequently the illegal migrant hide are in the centre of Sofia, round the area of “Maria Luiza” boulevard and the Lady’s Market. Therefore, there is increased police presence in that area.
