The specialized prosecutor's office pressed charges against eight participants in an organized criminal group for drug production and distribution in Bourgas and Pomorie (Bulgarian seaside). They were detained on October 17, 2017 in a joint police-prosecutor’s office operation.
According to evidence gathered so far, the group has been active since January 2017. In addition to the distribution of drugs in the region, it has also intended to control the production of marijuana. A cannabis growing setup was found and seized in the course of the investigation.
Group members have also often used violent actions, particularly with regard to incorrect street dealers working for the criminal structure. They cruelly maltreated even minors who refused to become distributors in order to force them.
During the detention of the suspects, different amounts of marijuana and amphetamines for distribution were found in some of them. By order of a prosecutor from the Specialized Prosecutor's Office, seven of the accused were detained for up to 72 hours. On October 19, 2017, the Specialised Criminal Court will be requested to impose "detention on remand" for each of them. One is released on bail.
