Nine undocumented persons were detained in the area of Lion’s Bridge and the Mosque in Bulgaria’s capital Sofia in the evening on 2nd of August. The persons were detained during a special operation by the police targeting illegal migrants.
One of those detained appeared to have ben a subject of an earlier arrest warrant.
Earlier on 2nd of August, the Mayor of Sofia Yordanka Fandakova and the Minister of Interior Roumyana Bachvarova agreed that video cameras for permanent monitoring and patrols of the gendarmerie would be placed in the region of Lion’s Bridge.
The area is known as a gathering place for illegal migrants.
