A 92 year old, Petar Nikov, recovered from Covid-19 and was successfully discharged from “St. Anne” hospital in Sofia on December 18.
His doctor, Dafina Koleva, a cardiologist, says that he was admitted 10 days ago in a very serious condition with Covid-19 infection and with severe respiratory failure. “Like most elderly patients, he also has a number of concomitant diseases that further complicate the therapy. Thank God things went well for him," said Dr. Koleva.
He has not needed oxygen for 4 days now. Rehabilitation courses are held because older patients tend to lie down and have longer periods of inactivity, especially after suffering from a severe viral infection, added Dr. Koleva.
It is not easy for us to turn from cardiologists to pulmonologists, but we are doing quite well. The whole internal diseases medicine clinic on all floors has been turned into a COVID ward, and the surgery clinic as well. So, we have a lot of beds at "St. Anne" Hospital, said Dr. Rada Prokopova, also a cardiologist and head of the COVID ward.
