For the time being, the centre-right GERB closed the talks with the centre-right coalition “Reformist Bloc” about formation of a new government, despite the matching priorities in the platforms of the two parties. The announcement was made by Boyko Borisov’s GERB party following the consultations in the Parliament building, which went on for over 6 hours on 15th of October.
GERB explained that the absence of an agreement was caused because the Reformist Bloc did not provide answers to important questions – whether the Bloc would be a stable and reliable partner, whether it accepted the leader of GERB, Boyko Borisov, to serve as the Prime Minister, how many of the parties in the Bloc were ready to sign a coalitional agreement.
Petar Moskov, the Deputy-Chair of the party “Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria” and member of the negotiating team of the Reformists, argued that the Bloc was prepared to continue the negotiations tomorrow, in readiness to participate in a future government. The only condition was the majority to have a political framework to guide the specific actions of the next Parliament.
