The ad-hoc committee with the purpose to check the spending of public funds by the government of Boyko Borissov, ministries, state bodies and state enterprises in the past 10 years, as well as transactions at the stock exchange, held its first sitting on April 21.

"Dozens of signals have already been received by the committee from experts, civil society organizations, non-governmental organizations," said Maya Manolova, former national ombudsperson and chairwoman of "Rise up! Mutri, out" parliamentary group.

"The expectations of Bulgarian citizens for the work of this commission are really huge. People expect the truth about spending of public money, people want real, not imitation of checks for abuse and violations in various state bodies and institutions," Manolova added.
