100 experts from the EU border control cooperation agency Frontex will arrive in Bulgaria on 16th of August, the Bulgarian border police told BNT.
Most of them will be deployed within the standard rotation of experts and 40 additional experts will assist the Bulgarian border authorities in guarding the border with Turkey and Serbia.
A week ago, the Bulgarian government requested 200 Frontex experts to come to Bulgaria to strengthen activities at the borders with Turkey and Serbia in relation to the increased migration pressure.
The agency will also send technical equipment for border surveillance. 85 experts will be deployed at the border and the other 15 will be deployed at the border check points.
In the recent weeks, Bulgaria has registered a double increase in the number of migrants who try to cross into the country illegally - from 100 to 200 persons per day.
