The waters of the overflowing Mesta river have tilted a retaining wall on the road Bansko-Gotse Delchev in the area of the village of Mesta in Blagoevgrad district. The road is closed to traffic in both directions on January 13.
The river is overflowing after the heavy rains in past days
Specialists are trying to identify if there is a risk of a collapse for the whole road. The retaining wall is located on the road and there are parts that are compromised.
The specialists are assessing how dangerous the wall is and to what extent the road may get destroyed.
Parts of the crash barrier are currently being repaired.
On January 12, the road between the town of Hadzhidimovo and the village of Blatska collapsed.
The water from the overflowing river has flooded agricultural lands as well.
