Three people, including a 7-month pregnat pregnant woman and a military officer, were caught while transporting four illegal migrants, BNT has learned from sources.
The police officers were surprised that a pregnant woman was among those involved in the crime. Probably, through her, the other two male traffickers counted on deceiving the authorities in the event of an inspection.
The Military Prosecutor's Office confirmed the case, specifying that those arrested were a sergeant from Plovdiv and his pregnant wife. The two were caught transporting migrants in Haskovo.
The case is from Friday afternoon when 8 migrants from Syria were transported in three vehicles.
One was driven by the pregnant woman and four of the migrants were hidden in it - three in the back seat and one in the boot. A Bulgarian national, an accomplice in the trafficking scheme, was travelling alongside the driver.
The sergeant from Plovdiv was in a car travelling next to them.
The other part of the group of migrants were abandoned in the Kenana Park in Haskovo because of a car breakdown. They were promised to come back for them and pick them up.
At the moment all the migrants have already been brought to the refugee accommodation centre in Lyubimets.
Last night the Military Court in Plovdiv remanded the two alleged traffickers, while the pregnant woman is in hospital under observation.
The detained pregnant woman carrying migrants is known to police
Caretaker Minister of Interior, Ivan Demerdzhiev, commented that this was not the pregnant woman's first breach of the law. She is known to the police as she was caught driving under the influence of drugs.
The couple has long been monitored by Military Police.
