Anatoly Makarov is a career diplomat with extensive experience. He served as Russian ambassador to South Africa and Lesotho. He is 64. Until 1999, he worked as deputy director of the fourth department of the Russian foreign ministry. Makarov speaks English and Dutch.
Anatoly Makarov will replace Yuri Isakov.
