BNT Director General asks for date of the early elections to be changed, because EURO 2020 football final will be broadcast live on July 11

As far as I understand, it is very likely that the elections will be held on July 11. The final of the European Football Championship, EURO 2020, is scheduled to be broadcast live on that date. BNT has bought the broadcasting rights at significant cost, the Director General of the public service broadcaster BNT, Emil Koshlukov, wrote on his Facebook account on May 5.

Koshlukov clarifies that BNT already has a contract with UEFA, which obliges the TV to broadcast a certain number of matches, finals, semifinals, etc. The broadcaster has also concluded commercial contracts for advertising, which are of great value.

Hundreds of thousands of football fans in Bulgaria, probably even a million and more Bulgarians will want to watch the final. Maybe it's not a bad idea to set another date for the elections, either the Sunday, July 4, or July 18. Of course, BNT will comply with any decision regarding the date of the election, we are just asking that our arguments and the fans be considered," the director general of BNT said.
