BNT Documentary Awarded at International Festival of Red Cross and Health Films

The BNT documentary "Me, You and Friends" was awarded at the prestigious International Festival of Red Cross and Health Films, the 17th edition of which was held in Bulgaria’s Black Sea coastal city of Varna.

The film received the prize of the President of the Bulgarian Red Cross and is the only awarded Bulgarian film production in the category "Red Cross and Red Crescent Films”.

The author of the film is Tsvetelina Atanasova. The director is Borislava Dimova.

The festival is held under the patronage of Mrs. Iliana Yotova, Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria.

The film was selected by a committee chaired by Prof. Dr. Temelko Temelkov to participate in the festival's competition programme among the record high number of 1,890 films from 107 countries.

"Me, You and Friends" (2017) is a film dedicated to the rescue dogs team at the Mountain Rescue Service. It's a fascinating first-person story of dog handlers and their lives with the four-legged rescue partners. The documentary takes the viewers to moments from the work of three handler-dog operating pairs. It reveals interesting details from the emotions, long and consistent dog-handler training aimed at building a relationship between them, making them an irreplaceable team ready to help in the vents of all sorts of disasters, accidents and incidents. The film also reveals what motivates mountain rescuers and instructors to dedicate to the responsibility of saving lives.

The TV story is a result of the work of the skillful camera operators Anna Andreeva and Atanas Atanassov and video edited by Diana Grigorova. The film is presented for the first time in the BNT1 feature “Close-up””.

"Me, You and Friends" was screened twice in the programme of the international forum, whose artistic director is Prof. Bozhidar Manov.

The moto of the 17th edition is "By Humanism to Peace and Friendship". The International Festival of Red Cross and Health Films is the most prestigious forum in the area with over 50 years of history. Organizers are the Bulgarian Red Cross and the Medical University - Varna, with the support of the International Federation of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent.
