The centre-right GERB held a national meeting in the National Palace of Culture on 20th of October. The purpose was to decide with which parties GERB would continue the second round of talks on possible formation of a government.
In an interview after the national meeting, GERB leader, Boyko Borisov, said that elections were almost inevitable.
It would be unfair to burden the President Plevneliev to form caretaker governments every few months, Borisov noted.
He stated that a second round of negotiations was decided to be held with the centre-right coalition “Reformist Bloc”, the centre-left Bulgarian Socialist Party, the nationalist coalition “Patriotic Front” and the centre-left “ABC” party. “Half of the hall” were against holding further talks with some parties, for various reasons, Borisov added. The negotiating teams will include experts, who if required would prepare documents for signing of coalition agreement.
Borisov explained he would not personally take part in the second round of negotiations, but would get involved only when there was a coalition agreement in place.
