Bulgaria’s border police detained 45 foreigners attempting to illegally cross the Bulgarian – Serbian border in the past day, the Interior Ministry said on 19th of July.
On 18th of July, local border police patrol in the village of Izvor Mahala, 800 m away from the Bulgarian-Serbian border, detained 13 citizens of Afghanistan and 13 citizens of Pakistan. Later, about 18.30, another shift of the local border police held 12 citizens of Afghanistan and 2 from Iran during an attempt to cross into Serbia.
Shortly after midnight on 19th of July, 5 citizens of Afghanistan were discovered close to the border in the region of Kosovo village. Some of them had registration cards issued by the Bulgarian State Agency for Refugees. They were issued warnings and taken out of the border area. Other were sent to the centre for temporary accommodation of foreigners in the Busmantsi.
Over the past day, the Bulgarian Border Police at Elhovo prevented 10 attempts by 157 people to illegally cross the Bulgarian – Turkish border.
