BULGARIA’S CEC: NO MACHINE VOTING IN MARCH 26 EARLY ELECTIONS

The members of the Central Election Commision decided on 25th of February not to accept the only bid for the provision of the voting machines in the polling stations for the 26th of March early parliamentary elections and to terminate the procurement procedure.

A report was presented at the meeting of CEC saying that the bidder did not meet the technical requirements and the timeframe criteria to supply the 12,500 machines.

The CEC members commented that the absence of a voting machine in the polling stations should not pose a risk to the forthcoming elections and they would be valid.

Now the machine voting option is out, the Bulgarians would use ballot papers to exercise their right to vote.
