Bulgaria’s Central Election Commission on August 10 started accepting documents for registration of parties and coalitions to participate in the early parliamentary elections scheduled for 2 October, 2022.

The deadline for registration is by 17.00 on 17 August for parties and coalitions, and five days more for initiative committees.

Parties and coalitions are required to submit a number of documents, including a minimum of 2,500 signatures from people over the age of 18. They are also required to pay a deposit.

"We Continue the Change" party(majority partner in the former ruling coalition) are expected to register after the court allowed their registration yesterday. The registration of Stefan Yanev's party "Bulgarian Rise" was also allowed.

22 parties and 7 coalitions registered for participation in the previous early parliamentary elections.

The organisation and conduct of the snap elections is a main task of the caretaker cabinet.

President Rumen Radev held a working meeting on August 9 to get acquainted with the readiness of the institutions. He said that it was important that the upcoming elections produce a stable government that would address the urgent reforms and adopt strategic decisions for the country.
