The Energy and Water Regulatory Commission approved the new prices of water in 26 regions of the country for next year.
In a closed sitting on December 30 the energy regulator set the prices which in some areas will go up by 6% while in other locations there will be a decrease by up to 22%.
From January 1, the water supply services in Sofia will go up by BGN 0.17 per cubic metre. The largest increase in prices will be in the city of Razgrad, where the cost of 1 cubic metre will rise by BGN 0.20.
In Dobrich, the water price will drop by BGN 0.45 per cubic metre, in Sliven the decrease will be by BGN 0.43, Yambol – by BGN 0.35 and in Vidin the price of the services will be down by BGN 0.33.
The new prices sparked protests outside the building of the energy regulator.
