Bulgaria’s Health Minister Nikolai Petrov has submitted a resignjation and the Prime Minister has accepted it. This was reported by the government’s press office on 30th of October...
Petrov leaves the post following a journalistic investigation by BTV broadcaster, claiming that in the period he was the director of the Military Hospital in Sofia, he signed contracts for nearly 1,200,000 BGN with the company of the man from whom his daughter has a child.
It is also claimed that these were the only two public procurement contracts won by the company, which was not registered under BULSTAT. According to the investigation, the case is also reflected in an audit report, but the prosecutor’s office refused to initiate criminal proceedings.
BNT reporter Ilina Bisserova could not find prof. Petrov for comments.
Before the start of of today's government meeting at the Council of Ministers, it was understood he has a short conversation with colleagues from the Cabinet. Minister of Finance Vladislav Goranov stressed that he had spoken to him and that Prof. Petrov told him that he would not allow anyone to destroy his 60-year-old career.
