Specialised police operation for speed enforcement will run for a week from Monday 1 to Sunday 7 April.
It is part of the European Traffic Police Network (TISPOL) control week “Speed” and similar operations will be conducted on the territory of all member states, the Ministry of Interior announced.
The aim of the operation is to draw attention to the fact that excessive speed is still one of the most common causes for serious road accidents with the largest number of injuries and deaths.
From 6 am on 2 April to 6 pm on April 3, there will be an analogous "24-hour speed" operation that will have extremely intense speed checks within a day, police said.
