Bulgaria’s President Radev congratulates Joseph Biden on his inauguration as the 46th President of the United States

Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev congratulated Joseph Biden on his inauguration as the 46th President of the United States and wished him success in his highly responsible mission.

In his congratulatory letter, the Bulgarian head of state pointed out that in recent decades the allied relations between the Republic of Bulgaria and the United States of America have become a proven and lasting friendship and have logically acquired the status of a strategic partnership.

Bulgaria highly appreciates the political, economic and cultural cooperation with the United States, as well as the deep partnership in the area of security and defense, in the fight against international terrorism and organized crime, the Bulgarian President stressed.

Rumen Radev hopes that the dynamics of cooperation between Bulgaria and the United States will find appropriate expression in achieving progress in the dialogue for Bulgaria's inclusion in the US VWP visa-free travel programme.

In his letter, the head of state also stated that Bulgaria will count on the support of the United States for our country's candidacy for membership in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, as well as on a number of other issues of mutual interest.

In 2021, Bulgaria will host the Three Seas Initiative, which has the potential throgh the improvement of transport, energy and digital connectivity in Eastern Europe to become a real tool for accelerating growth in the region and for faster economic and social rapprochement between Eastern and Western Europe, the Bulgarian President's letter said.

I am grateful for the political and stated material support so far, which this large-scale regional initiative enjoys and I hope that this attitude will continue in the future," said President Rumen Radev in his letter to the President of the United States, Joseph Biden.
