BULGARIA’S VELIKO TURNOVO SELECTED AS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL TOWN IN THE WORLD

Veliko Turnovo is selected as the most beautiful town in the world for 2016. The selection was made by the Italian newspaper Republica, which described the old Bulgarian capital as a jewel of architecture causing delight in every visitor.

According to the ranking, Veliko Turnovo is one of the towns that causes spontaneous delight. It was selected at the top of the ranking also because it was built on a difficult, even impossible to build on terrain. Such places are built slowly and show the creativity and aspiration of humanity to conquer nature.

The municipality of Veliko Turnovo said they did not apply for participation in the prestigious ranking. Nelina Tsarova, the Head of Culture and tourism directorate, explained that the ness about the selection came a little bit as a surprise. The selection is based not only on how the cities look, but on infrastructure, historical sites and places of interest, nature, landscape, which in Veliko Turnovo is unique, she added.

Residents and visitors of the town are impressed with the top place in the ranking and are firm the town completely deserves it.

The old Bulgarian capital is selected first among the towns built on slopes. The other selected locations are magnificent and world known places like Meteora in Greece, Ronda in Spain, the historical village of Piodao in Portugal, Riomaggiore in Italy and many others.
