Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev on December 2 announced that he will hand over the first mandate to seek to form a government to the largest parliamentary group (GERB-UDF) on Monday.
"I hope that the extra time I have given will be used in the best way," the head of state stressed.
He also commented that he would decide whether to veto the changes to the Electoral Code after the bill is conclusively adopted and he gets acquainted with all the details.
The President came out strongly against the transfer of the security services to the direct control of the executive.
"It is untenable for the party, which has decided to associate itself with the change, to insist on the return of the flawed governance model. Until recently, the security services were under the direct oversight of the Prime Minister. Now they are proposing to legitimise the comfort of corruption," he pointed out.
The Head of State participated in the solemn celebration of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the National Sports Academy "Vasil Levski". During the official ceremony, Radev awarded the NSA with the President's Badge of Honour.
