In Bulgaria, 5th of August is also a special day for the beer lovers.
A study of the Bulgarian Union of Brewers shows that the Bulgarians consume average 73.5 litres of beer per person per year.
The EU countries have about 45,000 brands of beer. This is a great variety, there are about 100 styles of beer, Ivana Radomirova, the Head of the Union of Brewers in Bulgaria says. This once again shows that the category is developing, that there is a great diversity and variety, she added.
Arseni Videnov, a waiter in a beer pub in Sofia explains that cloudy beer is the most preferred. He says that ales are also very much consumed. “People like the taste of hops, he added. And that is normal. There is nothing better than the bitter taste of real beer,” he said.
