On 9th of May, Bulgaria marks the Day of Europe and the Day of Victory.
The celebrations began early in the morning when wreaths and flowers were laid at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier on the occasion of 74 years since the end of the Second World War. The event was attended by war veterans, their heirs and officials. The ceremony was attended by President Rumen Radev.
Later, a ceremony of raising the flag of the European Union was held in front of Bulgaria’ Presidency to mark the Day of Europe Day. The flag was hoisted while the national anthem of Bulgaria and the anthem of Europe were played. The Speaker of Parliament, Tsveta Karayancheva, gave an address on the occasion of the Day of Europe.
