Bulgaria starts second phase of vaccination against Covid-19 on Monday, January 18

This means that the share of positive test results is 7% of all tested. 341 of those infected were confirmed from PCR tests and 194 from a rapid antigen test.

During the past 24 hours, 1,258 people have been vaccinated and their total number has become 17,038. Today, the immunization with the Moderna vaccine started. In February, we will know if the vaccinated remain carriers of COVID-19. "This trust, which has been built between us and our fellow citizens, has led to several important results. It is my deep conviction that where information ends, fear begins. It is no coincidence that one of our main goals is to make Bulgarian citizens the most informed in the EU. It is not accidental and thanks to this aspiration of the health authorities to provide complete and truthful information ", the Minister emphasized.

On a 14-day basis, Bulgaria ranked ninth in mortality and 27th in morbidity in the European Union, Chief State Health Inspector, Angel Kunchev, said.

The districts with the highest morbidity are Vratsa, Varna, Pleven, Rousse and Kyustendil. The lowest prevalence of the infection is in the districts of Razgrad, Turgovishte, Kurdzhali and Smolyan.

The second phase of the vaccinations against Covid-19 in Bulgaria will begin on January 18 in areas where quantities of vaccines are sufficient, Health Minister Kostadin Angelov told thebriefing.

Twenty-one per cent of teachers had said that they wanted to be vaccinated, he added.

In Bourgas, there is readiness to start vaccinating teachers and residents of old people’s homes.
