We are preparing for the vaccines. They will arrive in Sofia and will be stored in the refrigerator at Bul Bio, the first shipment will be a small quantity. We want to show that in Europe in one day all Member States will vaccinate different groups of the population according to the vaccination plans of the countries," announced the Minister of Health Prof. Kostadin Angelov on December 22. He handed over the keys to 20 new ambulances to the emergency medical centres in Bourgas, Varna, Veliko Turnovo, Plovdiv, Rousse, Sliven and Stara Zagora.

The vaccines will be transferred to the freezers of several Regional Health Inspectorates (RHI). Logistics have yet to be clarified, but vaccination is likely to begin in three major cities at the same time, he explained.

The travel of the vaccines from Bul Bio to the refrigerators in the individual RHIs will be in dry ice facilities. We do not think the refrigeration chain would be disrupted, becuase the vaccine can be stored in a normal refrigerator from the time of removing it from the refrigerator at minus 70 degrees until the patients receive it," the minister added.

Prof. Kostadin Angelov said he is ready to be the first to receive the vaccine in the country. He wants to show that he believes in vaccination and vaccination as an achievement of science. "I believe in it and in vaccination as a goal and as an achievement of science, thanks to which we will fight this infection," he said and added that today it will be decided who will be the first person to have the vaccine in Bulgaria.

"It is important for us that the vaccine reaches all those who have expressed desire to be vaccinated. What makes us happy is that Bulgarian medics continue to be included in lists of those wishing to get vaccinated," Angelov said.

There will be a vaccine for every Bulgarian citizen who wishes, the Minister of Health assured again.

An order will be signed by the end of the day today for adding the results from antigen tests to the statistics on Covid-19 cases, Angelov said.

Today, the Minister of Health handed over 20 new equipped ambulances to the centres for emergency medical care in Bourgas, Varna, Veliko Turnovo, Plovdiv, Rousse, Sliven and Stara Zagora. The cars were purchased in implementation of the project BG16RFOP001-4.001-0001 "Support for the development of the emergency medical care system", funded by the Operational Program "Regions in Growth 2014-2020".

So far, 280 vehicles have been delivered under the project. Further 120 remain to be delivered, of which 42 are off-road.

The investment project for modernization of emergency care is being implemented throughout the country, and in addition to the purchase of cars, the other activities include construction, reconstruction, repair and improvement of access to 237 sites of the emergency medical care system. A separate activity under the project envisages the modernization of all premises in the structures of the emergency care with new equipment and furniture.
