Bulgaria will receive 852 migrants redirected from Italy and Greece, in accordance with a plan which will be voted at the extraordinary meeting of the European Council on 23rd of September, said BNT correspondent in Brussels, Vladislav Velev.
The European Union leaders are meeting to adopt the agreement for relocation of migrants, which was reached by EU Interior Ministers on 22nd of September.
Under a compromise plan, 120,000 asylum seekers will be relocated in two phases – 66,000 will be relocated immideately and 54,000 at a later stage. No mandatory quotas were introduced. The number of refugees for relocation was negotiated between the member states. The agreed number to a large degree coincides with the proposals of the European Commission.
