Three illegal migrants were identified in a Polish-registered lorry arriving in Bulgaria at Kapitan Petko Voyvoda border checkpoint (border with Greece), the Ministry of Interior announced on 23rd of January.
A 38-year-old Polish citizen was the driver. Border police officers careid out a check with a gas analyzer. Higher levels of carbon dioxide were found in the trailer, proving that there were people there. This was confirmed with a customs X-ray.
Border police officers found a Syrian couple and two Iraqis in the cargo area. The driver and the illegal migrants were detained by the local police. The relevant District Prosecutor's Office in Svilengrad has been notified.
