Bulgarian Mountaineer Boyan Petrov Returned Home after Climbing Dhaulagiri

The Bulgarian mountaineer Boyan Petrov returned to Bulgaria late on 9^th of October after he climbed Dhaulagiri, the 7th highest mountain in the world, a few days ago.

This is the tenth eightthousander Petrov had climbed. Thus, he is getting closer to achieving his aim of becoming the first Bulgarian to have climbed all 14 eightthousanders. In March 2018, he is planning to set off to the highest mountain in the world - Everest.

In the BNT morning show on 10^th of October, Petrov described his ascent to Dhaulagiri as easier than the ascent of Gasherbrum 2, which he climbed in July 2017.

He has it took him 100 days to climb two eightthousanders in one season.

Petrov added he was satisfied with his recent achievement. “Now it is time for a rest and other activities. I will focus on my work in the museum and projects that I have started or will start in the future. I want to relax from this snow and ice,” Boyan Petrov said.

“The weather in the Himalaya after 25^th of September turned out to be very nice. The two peaks with mountaineering expeditions on them saw many climbs. Dhaulagari was summited only by me and a Russian. I am also waiting to hear information about an Italian team, to find out if they have climbed it, “Petrov noted.

“Conquering mountains in sunny weather gives you the opportunity to enjoy the panorama around you and you see everything from the top. Every mountaineer wants to reach the end of the expedition, literally, to set foot on the top and say – ‘nothing higher up’ - that's a great moment. Mentally you feel satisfied that you did it, " Boyan explained.
