The Bulgarian National Television (BNT) is hosting the 13th edition of Junior Eurovision 2015. The most prestigious song contest in Europe will be held on 21st of November in Arena Armeec in the Bulgarian capital Sofia.

Viara_Ankova-200x120“Krisia, Hassan and Ibrahim’s performance brought this unique chance for BNT and Bulgaria to host one of the most prestigious music competitions in Europe. We also loved participating in the 2014 event put on by PBS Malta and were very impressed by the renewed energy, commitment and enormous talents of the children. We believe that Bulgaria, as the host country, will be a new platform to young talents from all over Europe while enlightening them to the beauty and traditions of our country”, Vyara Ankova, Director General of BNT said.

Junior Eurovision Executive Supervisor Vladislav Yakovlev said that he was greatly looking forward to helping BNT Bulgaria in their preparations to host this year’s event. “EBU and the Junior Eurovision Steering Group will do our utmost to ensure that all the children and broadcasters who participate will be part of a positive and fun event that gives them time in the spotlight and opportunities for creativity and friendship,” he added.

After the fourteen-year-old Vincenzo Cantiello from Italy won the 12th competition in Malta last year, RAI of Italy was given the first option to host the 2015 edition. However the rules of the competition do not place the winning country under any obligation to host.

“We have had detailed discussions with RAI of Italy about the possibility for them to host this year’s contest. Unfortunately they are not in a position to hold the competition in Italy, but we thank them immensely for looking into the possibility of hosting. That an organisation such as RAI would explore all possibilities to host Junior Eurovision, and the interest expressed by Bulgaria and other countries shows that Junior Eurovision is heading in the right direction”, executive supervisor Vladislav Yakovlev explained.

The song contest will be broadcast live on TV and streamed live on the internet. It is suitable for an audience at any age.

The winning entry is decided by a jury and the public televoting from the countries participating in the competition.

The interest of the TV operators in the music completion remains high. 16 countries took part in 2014, the highest number since 2007. Several countries have already started the selection process for the contest. The participants are children of age between 10 and 15 years, which will have the honour to present their country.

Only EBU member broadcasters are eligible for participation in the completion.
