Bulgarian Politicians Condemn Terrorist Attack in Barcelona

Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, President Roumen Radev and Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva condemned the attack in Barcelona on 17^th of August.

In a telegram to his Spanish counterpart Mariano Rajoy, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov expressed sincere condolences of the Bulgarian government to the victims in Barcelona.

"We are deeply shocked by this manifestation of brutality and violence against peaceful citizens and express solidarity and unreserved support for the Spanish people. There is no, and there can be no justification for such actions, " the Prime Minister said. He also stated the determination of the Bulgarian government to continue to actively participate in the international community's fight against terrorism.

Bulgarian President Roumen Radev said he was shocked by the attack and that in this difficult moment, unity is needed in the face of terrorism.

I am deeply shocked by the attacks in central Barcelona, where many citizens have been killed and injured. It is another terrorist attack on a European country that requires us to be united in the fight against this common threat to all our societies.

In this difficult moment, Bulgaria stands beside the friendly Spanish people. We are sympathetic to the pain of the families who have lost their relatives and we hope that the perpetrators of these crimes will receive a quick and just punishment.

Bulgaria’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva also expressed her condolences and said there are no goals that justify forcible deprivation of human life.

Bulgarian National Assembly Speaker, Dimitar Glavchev, expressed his deepest condolences and sympathy to the victims and families of the terrorist act in Barcelona in addresses to the Presidents of the Congress of Deputies and the Senate of the Spanish Parliament, the press office of the National Assembly said.

"I am deeply shocked by the terrorist act in the center of Barcelona, where many people were killed and injured. Once again the world is shaken and shocked, and once again innocent people are victims of unacceptable assault on human life," the letter said.

Dimitar Glavchev expressed his sincere and human sympathy and solidarity with the relatives and families of the victims and wished quick recovery of the injured.
