Bulgarian road hauliers protest in Sofia and Strasbourg over Mobility package

Although the European Parliament President Antonio Tajani returned the controversial Mobility Package for further review by the Transport Committee, the Bulgarian road hauliers did not give up their intention to travel to Strasbourg to stage a protest on 27^th of March. A protest is taking place in Sofia at the same time.

More than 100 Bulgarian road hauliers and their colleagues from Romania, Poland, Latvia and Lithuania gathered at the protest rally outside the European Parliament. They said they would not give up their protest actions and would continue to try to postpone the adoption of the Mobility Package.

All Bulgarian MEPs came out on the platform in front of the European Parliament, saying that despite the good news today, hauliers are aware that a there will be a fairly long road until the possible review of the package is postponed for the next European Parliament.

Protesters gather in the capital city of sofia from all over Bulgaria. The protest was scheduled to start at 12:30. Traffic will not be blocked. The walking procession will take place on Vitosha bulevard and will reach the building of the European Commission on Georgi Rakovski Boulevard. Freight transportation companies and their ccollegaues from bus transportation companies protest at the same time. The protests will merge on "Georgi Rakovski" Blvd., where the protest in Sofia is scheduled to end.
