Bulgarian 3,000m steeplechase athlete Silvia Danekova has tested positive in a doping control conducted a few days after her arrival in Rio de Janeiro on 26th of July.
Upon her arrival, she gave a sample and the results were negative. However, two days later she was tested again and was tested positive for prohibited blood booster Erythropoietin (EPO).
For BNT, Silvia Danekova said that she felt humiliated and in no way she violated any rules. She said that the only logical explanation she could give was that the substance possible came from the food supplement she took as a sports person.
Danekova was due to compete in the women's 3000m steeplechase on Monday.
