The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) on September 7 returned the mandate to form a government offered to them by Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev.
At the beginning of the meeting, the President congratulated BSP leader Kornelia Ninova for her responsible approach to the negotiations for forming a government within the third mandate.
"Alas, new elections and new negotiations await us. I believe that the BSP will be an active participant in them again," Radev added.
According to Kornelia Ninova, BSP has made every effort for reason, dialogue and responsibility to both the state and the people.
We did not find support from the parties "There is Such a People", "Democratic Bulgaria" and "Rise up BG! We are Coming!", which is why I am returning the mandate unfulfilled", added the BSP leader.

The head of state must now decide when to dissolve the Parliament and set the date of the general elections. Ninova herself announced that after the conversation with Radev, he said that he would take this decision after discussing it with the Central Election Commission and ascertain what opportunities exist for organising parliamentary elections together with the Presidential elections.
Ninova's opinion is that there should be a 2 in 1 election.
"We have maintained a good tone all the time, we were open to dialogue, but what is happening now is extremely irresponsible," Ninova said after the meeting with the head of state.
