Bulgaria’s Cabinet has allocated additional 125 million BGN to purchase Covid-19 vaccines, thus bringing the total amount allocated for vaccines to 305 million BGN.. Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said on December 30 after the meeting of the government and reminded that all vaccines would be voluntary and free of charge and that they were approved by the European Medicines Agency and the European Commission.
"The vaccine is the only thing that can get us out of the pandemic. With the great efforts of all our doctors and nurses, healthcare assistants, paramedics, laboratory technicians, their personal example, which they set with the vaccination. This is the only chance that the civilized world sees at the moment - through vaccines to get out of this war, " Borissov said. He also emphasized the timely support of the government in the socio-economic sphere. "We are doing everything necessary to keep jobs, to keep businesses," Borissov added.
During the government meeting, Health Minister Kostadin Angelov informed that vaccination was going according to plan and 3,844 people had already been vaccinated across the country. "In all districts of the country an organization has been made for the vaccination of the medical staff working on the front line," said Minister Angelov. The Ministry of Health will also launch an information campaign so that every Bulgarian citizen can be informed about the vaccination process. The next consignment of vaccines is expected to arrive in Bulgaria at the beginning of next year, for which the necessary organization has been established.
