On 8th of February, Bulgaria’s caretaker Prime Minister Ognyan Gerdzhikov dismised the chairperson of the management board of the Road Infrastructure Agency, Doncho Atanasov and the executive director of the Avtomagistrali EAD, Parashkev Krustev. The decision for the dismissals was made in relation to the fatal incident in Echemishka tunnel of Hemus motorway, on the road between Sofia and Varna, in which a beam of the lighting system fell on a car and killed a 64-year-old woman.
Criminal negligence should be sanctioned, the PM said.
The director of road infrastructure maintenance at the Road Infrastructure Agency, Georgi Zlatev, was also dismissed from the post, the PM added.
He pointed out that he insisted caretaker Minister of Regional Development and Public Spas Popnikolov dismiss the director of the district road management Sofia and the head of the regional Road Service Sofia.
