On 2nd of June, Bulgaria’s Commission for Protection of Competition (CPC) imposed fines on the country’s three electricity distribution companies - CEZ, EVN, and Energo-Pro. The total amount of the sanction is 1.17 million BGN. CPC has identified that each of the electricity distribution companies violated the anti-monopoly law.
The distributors set and charged unreasonably high prices for the usage of their low-voltage poles thus restricting and violating competition, and affecting the interests of consumers.
CEZ company said they would appeal the decision of the Commission regarding the renting of utility poles for use by cable operators. According to CEZ, the prices are economically justified, compliant with the law and set on market principle.
Energo-Pro said they would also appeal the decision to the Supreme Administrative Court.
