Bulgaria’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva participated in a world conference on peace and security in the Middle East held in the Polish capital Warsaw.
70 countries are the participants in the forum. The media interest is huge - nearly 2,000 journalists from all over the world are here.
The official opening of the two–day conference took place on 13th of February at the Palace in Warsaw by US Vice President Mike Pens. The forum is chaired jointly by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Polish Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz.
The main task of the participants is to review international peace and security efforts in the Middle East as well as the efforts to overcome peace-related conflicts and review the situation with migration flows.
Ten European foreign ministers participate in the forum, including theBulgarian Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva. The top diplomats of Germany and France are not attending - these two countries strongly disagree with the US policy towards Iran and the imposition of sanctions.
Israeli Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is sttending the forum.
