Bulgaria’s government approved additional spending from the Health Ministry budget in 2020 of up to BGN 14 million. The funds are envisaged to buy the medicinal product Veklury, the brand name of Remdesivir, the government’s press office said on December 2.

On October 14, the government approved BGN 2.1 million of additional spending from the budget of the Ministry of Health to buy 2,500 vials of Remdesivir, Health Minister Kostadin Angelov said at the time.

Today's weekly government meeting also adopted a Decision to repeal the Decree of the council of Ministers 851 of 2020 for a proposal to the National Assembly for approval of the concluded contracts for purchase, sale and delivery of personal protective equipment, medical devices, diagnostic tests and medicinal products in connection with the Covid-19 pandemic.

The subject of the proposal are concluded contracts for sale and delivery of personal protective equipment, medical devices, diagnostic tests and medicinal products in connection with the pandemic of COVID-19, under which implementation has begun, and everything under all contracts had been delivered and payments had been made.

Under ten of the contracts, the obligations of the parties have been fulfilled and a final payment has been made.
