Bulgaria’s mountain resort of Pamporovo opens the ski season

From December 19, most of Pamporovo ski area will be officially working. The snow conditions in the resort are very good for mid-December, there is enough snow and a total of 6 slopes are open, BGNES wrote on December 18.

The facilities operate at full capacity and under strict anti-epidemic measures. One of the main innovations in Pamporovo this season is the maximum digitalization of services. Reservations and purchase of lift passes can now be made via a new online platform.

The lift passes, which were purchased online, can be picked up from key locations in the resort from special pick-up devices, where by scanning a unique QR code, without any physical contact, customers will receive their lift pass. Reusable plastics will also be available, which can be easily recharged online.

"We expect the largest number of tourists during weekends. As of today, at least 6 slopes will be open, and in the next few weeks, their number will increase," said the executive director of Pamporovo AD Marian Belyakov.

He said that all anti-epidemic measures and prescriptions of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Tourism are observed in the resort.

We have created a good organization everywhere. People are required to wear masks, goggles, gloves. There are no gondola facilities in the resort, so the risk of infection is minimized, said Marian Belyakov.

The ski schools will be in small groups - up to 6 people, there will be no foreign participants.

Stefan Masurski, who owns a ski wardrobe and a ski school, said ski school prices will be lower this season.

According to him, the fact that the restaurants in the hotels can work is good news and will attract customers.

For lovers of winter sports, the all-day lift pass currently costs BGN 52 for an adult and BGN 31 for a child, and a ski package with a lift pass and ski equipment is included at a price of BGN 62 for an adult and BGN 38 for a child.
