On 21st of September, Bulgarian Parliament approved at first reading the provision of an interest-free loan by the government to the state-owned National Electricity Company (NEC) to pay the Russian Atomstroyexport for the equipment produced for Belene nuclear project.
After the approval at first reading, the draft law is subject to a second reading, which is expected to take place early next week.
Bulgaria requires the approval of the European Commission before the funds can be released to NEC.
