By order of Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, 12 firefighters and the Head of Chief Directorate “Fire Safety and Protection of Population”, Chief Commissioner Nikolai Nikolov, departed for Skopje, the press office of Bulgaria’s Ministry of Interior said on 7th of August, as quoted by BTA.
Two specialist vehicles with technical equipment for flooding response are on the way to the Macedonian capital. The team is expected to arrive in Skopje about midnight. They will join their Macedonian colleagues in dealing with the flooding aftermath.
At least 21 people were killed in flooding following a storm and torrential rain in Skopje on 6th of August.
A meeting will be held on 8th of August between the Bulgarian team of firefighters and the disaster management team of Macedonia to identify if Macedonia will need any further assistance. The coordination was assigned to the political cabinet of the PM.
