The campaign for the local government elections officially started on 25th of September. 71 parties and 3 coalitions will compete for local office.
The local elections will take place on 25th of October. The pre-election campaign will run until midnight on 23rd of October, followed by a “day of reflection”.
A national referendum will be held at the same time as the local elections. Voters will be asked to answer one question: “Do you support making it possible to vote from distance by using electronic means in elections and referendums?” A public information campaign related to the referendum begins from 25th of September.
30 parties, one coalition and 8 initiative committees have registered to participate in it. 24 parties, the coalition and 3 of the initiative committees will be campaigning in favour of a “Yes” vote, while 6 parties and 5 initiative committees will campaign for the “No” vote.
This year, the candidates for local offices will take Mensa IQ tests.
