CEC: 10 parties and 8 coalitions have so far submitted documents for participation in the elections

The organisation of the elections, shceduled for 9 June, is going smoothly. On Friday, those 24 Regional Election Commissions, that were not previously agreed upon during the consultations with the regional governors, were appointed and have been working since Saturday, Central Elections Commission’s (CEC) spokesperson Rositsa Mateva told a news briefing on April 23.

As regards voting outside the country, CEC decided on the list of countries - 60 countries with 776 polling stations, with Turkey, the UK and Germany having the largest number.

"Today the possibility of applications for voting outside the country was activated. More than 150 applications have already been submitted. There are also unconfirmed applications which can be seen on the CEC website. They can submit applications until May 14. So far, 10 parties and 8 coalitions have submitted documents for participation in the elections. The deadline for registration with the CEC expires tomorrow, April 24, at 17.00."

"From 25 April, CEC will accept documents from initiative committees for independent candidates for the EP. The registration of candidate lists for the EP will also start from April 25. The candidate lists for the National Assembly are submitted to the REC. Candidate lists must be submitted by May 7."

"From April 25, NGOs can submit documents for observers. The addresses of the polling stations, which number more than 11,800, are published on the CEC website. There are 6,157, 220 eligible voters for the EP and 6,639,439 eligible voters for the national parliament. The difference is that for the EP there is a residency requirement - a current address in Bulgaria or an EU member state," Rositsa Mateva explained.
