The Central Election Commission (CEC) on April 11 announced the names of the elected Members of Parliament in Bulgaria’s 45th National Assembly, following the parliamentary elections held on April 4.

The candidates who were elected in more than one constituency have indicated which one they will represent. A total of 24 MPs made such a choice.

Most party leaders who stood in the elections as leaders of candidates lists have chosen to become MPs from Sofia multi-member constituency. These are:

Rumen Hristov from the centre-right GERB-UDF coalition, Kornelia Ninova from the centre-left Bulgarian Socialist Party, Hristo Ivanov and Atanas Atanasov from pro-reform “Democratic Bulgaria”.

Maya Manolova, Arman Babikyan and Nikolai Hadzhigenov from the coalition "Rise Up! Thugs Out!".

The leader of the party that came second in the elections ,"There is Such a People", Slavi Trifonov, became an MP from Stara Zagora district (Southern Bulgaria).

MRF Chairman, Mustafa Karadayi, enters parliament as an MP from Shumen (Northern Bulgaria).

Fourteen of the 240 names elected as MPs have informed the election commission that they did not want to take up their seats, including 9 from the MRF, three from GERB-UDF, including GERB party leader Boyko Borissov, and two from "There is Such a People". Their places are taken by the next in the lists.

The distribution of seats in the next Parliament is as follows:

The centre-right GERB-Union of the Democratic Forces (UDF) coalition will have 75 seats.

The party of TV presenter, Slavi Trifonov, “There is Such a People” will have 51 seats.

The centre-left Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) won 43 seats.

The Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) has won 30 seats.

Hristo Ivanov’s pro-reform “Democratic Bulgaria” coalition will have 27 seats.

“Rise up! Thugs out!, the coalition between former ombudsperson Maya Manolova and “The Poisonous Trio”, the organisers of the anti-government protests, won 14 seats.

We have fulfilled our powers and obligations under the Electoral Code. This would not have been possible without the hard work not only of the CEC members, but also of all DEC members and their assistants, as well as the sectional election commisions who coped will the responsibility given the epidemic the situation in the country, the chairman of the Central Election Commission, Alexander Andreev, said at the beginning of the press conference.

I would like to thank for the excellent coordination with the Council of Ministers, the district administrations, the municipalities and our partners, Andreev added.
